To assess the water quality of three fish ponds which are Tilapia Pond, Catfish Keli Pond, and Puyu Pond by testing key water parameters: Dissolved Oxygen (DO), pH, Ammonia (NH₃), Nitrite (NO₂⁻), and Nitrate (NO₃⁻). The goal is to determine whether the water conditions are suitable for healthy fish survival and growth.
Test Results
1. Tilapia Pond
Dissolved Oxygen (DO): 6–7 mg/L — Excellent
pH: 6.4 — Slightly acidic, but acceptable for Tilapia
Ammonia: 0 ppm — Safe
Nitrite: 0 ppm — Safe
Nitrate: 5.0 ppm — Very Low
Conclusion:
The water quality in the Tilapia pond is excellent. The DO level is sufficient, and all toxic substances (ammonia and nitrite) are at zero. Slight acidity (pH 6.4) is still within an acceptable range for Tilapia. The environment is suitable for fish health and growth.
2. Keli Pond
Dissolved Oxygen (DO): 10 mg/L — Excellent
pH: 7.0 — Neutral, Ideal
Ammonia: 0 ppm — Safe
Nitrite: 0 ppm — Safe
Nitrate: 10 ppm — Low
Conclusion:
The Keli pond exhibits optimal water quality. DO is high, and all toxic nitrogen compounds are absent. A pH of 7.0 indicates a perfectly neutral environment, ideal for catfish. The nitrate level is low and poses no risk. The pond is highly conducive to fish survival and growth.
3. Puyu Pond
Dissolved Oxygen (DO): 10 mg/L — Excellent
pH: 6.6 — Slightly acidic but suitable
Ammonia: 0 ppm — Safe
Nitrite: 0 ppm — Safe
Nitrate: 10 ppm — Low
The Puyu pond also demonstrates excellent water conditions. DO levels are high, which benefits this air-breathing species. The pH of 6.6 is within the acceptable range, and toxic substances are completely absent. The nitrate level is low and not harmful.
All three ponds Tilapia, Keli, and Puyu show excellent water quality with no presence of harmful substances. Dissolved oxygen levels are within or above optimal ranges, ensuring that fish can thrive. The ponds are well-maintained and suitable for continued aquaculture operations.
